TRASH: The surge of waste colonialism in Africa – Plastic Pollution

It is becoming increasingly important for people of colour to join the climate movement. Not only to have a place at the table and to have a say, but to really safeguard the dignity of our communities.

This Greenpeace Africa’s visual anthology unpacks how plastic is responsible for the increase in extreme weather events across the African continent – since it is a product of fossil fuels and its production is one of the main factors in the climate crisis.

The Direct Impact of Plastic Pollution

The documentary makes clear that plastic pollution harms our communities; causing floods by blocking drainage, taking hundreds of lives and displacing more and more people each year.

We must unite against the plastic pollution crisis by calling out polluters and demanding a legally binding Global Plastics Treaty that will bring this destruction to an end! Add your voice: https://bit.ly/3IdrKN3
