Affectionately known as “The Pearl of Paarl”, South African vocalist Loren Erasmus is preparing to celebrate five decades with a spectacular evening of music, memories and special guest performances when The Golden Concert takes over Paarl Town Hall on Saturday, 30 January 2027.

The milestone concert promises to be more than a birthday celebration, bringing together the music and experiences that have shaped Erasmus’ journey while offering audiences an opportunity to celebrate alongside one of Paarl’s best-loved voices.

For Erasmus, however, turning 50 also represents the beginning of a new chapter. Alongside preparations for the concert, she is using her music to explore themes of resilience, womanhood, overcoming adversity and finding the courage to rise again.

A Woman Unbroken

That message is at the heart of her newly released single, A Woman Unbroken, which arrived during Women’s Month.

The emotional and empowering song encourages women to embrace their stories, honour their scars and recognise that surviving difficult experiences does not have to define their limitations. For Erasmus, its message is particularly personal.

“I wanted to create something that speaks to every woman who has had to find her strength again,” she says.

Loren Erasmus describes the song as a reminder that people can bend without breaking, with their scars becoming part of their strength. Her hope is that women listening to A Woman Unbroken will feel seen, encouraged and reminded of their own power.

The single is available across major digital music platforms, extending the reach of a message that reflects the broader direction of Erasmus’ life and work as she enters her fifth decade.

Celebrating Five Golden Decades

The Golden Concert will bring that journey to the stage through live music, storytelling, special guest artists and celebration, with the full guest line-up still being kept under wraps.

Audiences can expect an evening reflecting the different people, songs, memories and milestones that have contributed to Erasmus’ story. Her musical repertoire spans classical, contemporary, jazz, gospel, Afrikaans and popular music, highlighting the versatility that has become part of her identity as a performer.

“The Golden Concert is not just a birthday party. It is a celebration of the journey: the highs, the lows, the people, the music and the lessons,” says Erasmus. “I want everyone who walks through those doors to feel like they are part of the story.”

There will also, naturally, be a touch of gold, with guests encouraged to embrace the semi-formal dress code and add their own golden touch to the occasion.

More Than a Musical Journey

Erasmus’ work extends beyond performing. She is an entrepreneur and founder of Chipo Productions, an initiative focused on partnerships, talent development, community empowerment and creating opportunities through music, business and collaboration.

She has also been involved in community-focused initiatives, including work through Outside the Bowl Africa, where she has served as Executive Director. Her involvement in such projects, including the Food for Soles Mandela Day Drive Benefitting 67K Vulnerable Kids we wrote about in 2024, reflects a commitment to using her platform beyond the stage.

Yet it is music that remains central to Erasmus’ story. From performing at festivals, corporate functions and community celebrations to releasing new material, she continues to build on a career grounded in emotional connection and storytelling.

Doors open at 18:00, with the show starting at 18:30.
