In a series of interviews focussed on South Africa’s upcoming 2024 National & Provincial Elections, Advocate Rod Solomons, the host of Rod’s Views on Cape Conscious Media, interviews Angela Sobey, Westeren Cape Premier Candidate for Action SA.
Angela Sobey is Action SA’s Premier Candidate of the Western Cape. She has worked at the Department of Justice before being seconded to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission as an interpreter because of her ability to fluently speak English, Afrikaans, isiXhosa and isiZulu.
In 2020, she headed the call to join ActionSA because of her anger at the decay of society after spending many years in conflict resolution.
One of Our Favourite Moments Paraphrased
Rod Solomons asks Angela Sobey what Action SA’s stance is on the issue that Coloureds are the majority in the Western Cape and minority nationally and that Coloureds feel “done in” (by the current dispensation).
Angela Sobey answers that the same issues that affect Colureds i the Western Cape is the same across the country in Coloured areas like Eldorado Park and elswhere, and not only that these issues need to be addressed, but also that First Nation People’s tradional leaders who are in and of Coloured communities are not give the same recognition as tradional leaders of other cultures.
