Brandon Hieman, from Kuils River, “was a light in every space he entered: kind-hearted, creative and deeply loved by everyone who knew him”. His passing has left his family and community heartbroken.
A family member says that Brandon was “a son, brother, uncle and friend, who suddenly passed in Seoul, South Korea, on 27 September 2025”.
“Losing someone so full of life is already hard, but having him so far from home has made this pain even heavier.”

The family of Brandon Hiemand has launched the Bring Brandon Home BackaBuddy Campaign launched to repatriate the remains of their loved.

Brandon Behind The Scenes in Cape Town Hip Hop

Brandon Hiemand loved both local and international Hip Hop music and was also quite influential in the Cape Town Hip Hop community and the broader music scene.
As a music video producer, he was, among other projects, behind some of the Ill Major Movement music videos for myself, SIEP. His work can be seen in my videos for my tracks Beklemtoon & Vra die Mense.
Brandon also produced a music videos for Niko10long, including Tot Di Eindstryd and Vaderviguur Part 2.

Brandon Hiemand will definitely be missed by those those who know him for his work as a music video producer, and his passing is a sad loss for the Cape Town Hip Hop Community and the local music scene.
Over and above his contribution to my music career, Brandon was also my friend whom I will dearly miss.

The Bring Brandon Home BackaBuddy Campaign

His family’s deepest wish is to bring Brandon home; to honour his life and final wishes surrounded by his family and loved ones in South Africa. To do this, they urgently need your support. The costs involved in repatriating a loved one from abroad are overwhelming, and beyond what his family can manage alone.

To help them fund the cost of repatriation, the family of Brandon Hiemand have started the Bring Brandon Home BackaBuddy Campaign.
Every contribution will go directly towards ensuring Brandon is brought home with dignity and care.
