Stuff I Like Part 1 – Johari Window

Share:FacebookXWhatsAppEmail

Interpersonal communication, how we interact with others through verbal and non-verbal modes of communication. The Johari window is an important lesson about the 4 kinds of self we possess. Create your own window by drawing a square and dividing it into fourths. The vertical centre line divides you from others, the horizontal line divides what is known about you from what is not. This gives us 4 possibilities of self: 1 The open self – you know it and so does everyone else ( I am a teacher); 2 the blind self – you dont know it, but everyone else does ( he is an egomaniac); 3 the hidden self – you know it but no one else does ( I am a serial killer); 4 the unknown self – you dont know it and neither does anyone else (‘…’). The basic concept is that the more you exist in the open self area, the healthier a person you are (mentally of course).
