So I spent this last few days away from home. I was in a little town in the eastern cape called grahams town. About an hour and fifteen minutes drive from port Elizabeth and by the time left to come back to JHB i knew for sure that there is no such thing as god. This construct simply does not have to exist for me or anyone, much the same way people held onto the belief that the earth was flat and then found it hard to “believe” the opposite, to make a statement of this sort really pushes the boundaries of understanding. But such a statement needs no understanding and no acceptance. Its simply an statement of fact based on materialistic observation, not by me, but by many others who then translate it to me. I choose to accept their study as close to true because when it was presented and those same ideas represented to me it found some semblance of “truth” in it.
I have also realised that i am trapped in thinking patterns that pose as material installation but that are in effect only thought loops created by clever machines in my mind. I might have learned over the last few days that my soul is a collection of individually programmed and programmable machines – and although I am aware of them, they seem to function with no knowledge of who I am or that I am here, I might have learned that the reason why I am aware of them is really the question and that trying to locate a starting point (an origin) is literally back thinking! Love and lust and joy and pain – real and imagined states – are the workings of these millions and trillions of cells that make up my body. They do so perhaps because I believe this is what I need to survive.
Are we then evolved from apes, how can this be when apes still walking around the planet? Actually we share a common ancestor with them but they had no need for evolution, they were perfectly suited to their environment, in fact they still are if they had access to their environments. Their arms stayed long, their pelvises broad and their brains small. Too comfortable in their world, their evolution was very different from ours. Stay with me here. When early man found himself in a precarious situation, the shelter from the sun no longer available on the highveld the need to hide from predators at night (when they proved unbeatable) and hunt them when they lay in the heat of the noon day sparked a process of refinement that took place over thousands of years. So eventually we got rid of our hair, we sweated more than any other mammals because we ran after our prey which meant we could run faster for longer
We have springs in our heels because we were made for running, we developed killing weapons, tactical approaches and all this just to survive, like all the other animals.
The idea that there might not be a god does not scare me. There is no after life. Faith, religion, hope, peace and all other immaterial constructs are all just inventions of someones mind and he happened to be able to convinced others, some can be traced to a root (E=MC2) (gravity – newton) (william shakepeare). My biggest concern is not whether you agree or disagree. I cant be responsible for correcting your thinko (typo of the mind – DD) I wont be persuaded to change mine. But a lesson we can learn from our ancestors (whom it might soon be revealed all lived in Mossel bay at some point a few thousand years ago!) unless we adapt, we will die. Unless we start fighting for our survival not just bodily but the survival of our memes (our cultural memory) it will fade, without representation you cannot claim equality in this human race.
So, I really dont care if you get along with men or women, if you think Tupac is dead or whether Zuma is let off and the Dalai Lama cant get it, I dont give a shit whether you think I am an atheist (confused, van die duiwel af) or whatever. You have allowed me into your mind, you have already taken the first steps towards creating your own opinion. Tell me now, once you have been made aware of something how do you become unaware? Is this my opinion you ask – i can honestly say the following: i Endeavour to make it fully mine by searching to understand all the aspects of it, for now, its an idea that has convinced me. “Well I am convinced of mine” You may say and in response I would say: “Good!”
Rise up bruin ou. Wake up bruin vrou. There is very little time. Who are YOU really and WHAT do you represent? Are you content with being isolated while the rest of the world evolves, being aware of a negative thinking loop (destructive ones like violence, gender discrimination, racism, drug or sexual abuse) and being determined to brake it is step one.
For me it started by accepting responsibility for me and this means a divorce from the idea of religion – even spirituality. For me, and I stress this, its more probable meeting Santa at the Easter bunny convention than ever seeing me knock knock knocking on heaven’s door.
I feel free. Thanks for reading this – you did not have to.
