I had to dust the cobwebs off of this piece and think long and hard before deciding to publish it. I don’t often write poetry, though I do appreciate the art-form. There really is so little creative work by and for Coloured people that I thought I’d take the lead and publish something which some might find quite relevant. Enjoy some more food for thought.
Binary Thoughts
When I open the taps to take a bath
First I’m dirty then I’m clean
One tap is red one tap is blue
But there’s no tap in-between

I’m either asleep or I’m awake
At what point do dreams become nightmares?
What is the line that separates heaven
From the abyss of hell’s fiery lake?

When I press the button to turn on the TV
To catch the morning news at 8
What is that instant called between
When the TV is off
