The Colour Game

The poem "The Colour Game", has long been an integral part of Bruinou.com, as it very eloquently and succinctly captures many of the issues surrounding contemporary Coloured identity issues in South Africa. The poem was written in 2003 by author, entrepreneur, social activist, poet and friend, Rassool Snyman. I encourage you to take the time out to read this poem and ponder its significance. So little is written of the Coloured experience, that to even think "Coloured" thoughts is almost taboo. Rassool Snyman goes where many fear to tread in "The Colour Game" and does a sterling job at delivering a poem that is insightful, passionate and sincere. Read it, and discuss it in our forums.
The Colour Game
We the people darker than white
We the people who have no right
We the people lighter than black
We on whom Africa turns her back
Be we in or be we out
What is this rebirth all about?
We the people who have no right
We the people lighter than black
We on whom Africa turns her back
Be we in or be we out
What is this rebirth all about?
