He's started becoming a household name in South Africa, appearing on our TV screens, all over our radios, and now Hemelbesem aka Simon Witbooi is ready for his next challenge and will be hitting the theatre stage with his full-length production titled 'Die Afrikaansvatter'.

The title, Die Afrikaansvatter, in itself is one of Hemelbesem's growing list of self-coined compound words.
'Afrikaans', the language, and 'kansvatter' which means a 'chancer' combine to form Afrikaansvatter and it is definitely not about a chancer's weak attempts to simply speak a language.
Here the chancer or kansvatter is being bold and daring.
It is all about taking ownership of the language in such a way that you are willing and eager to take chances with it in ways that will add to its richness.

This show will boast extreme wordplay in and around the Afrikaans language as HemelBesem sees and uses it in his mother tongue. Join him for a night of: Comedy, Romance, Lyricism, Breakdance and Poetry backed by live instrumentation of top-shelf quality. There will also be graffiti, live tattooing and animation done on stage.
