The Social CPT takes over Utopia Cafe & Lounge on the 24th of February for DJ Superfly‘s Birthday Celebration and to mark his 46th year of deejaying in South Africa.
DJ Superfly aka Rayyaan Coetzee has gained a reputation for being a trailblazing DJ on the South African night club scene. Superfly started out at the legendary Casablanca Night Club in Woodstock in the late 70’s during the disco boom in Cape Town. He then went on to rocking The New Yorker in Wynberg, returning to the revamped Casablanca which became the super-hot Le Club night club in 1985 where he is credited with launching Chicago House Music on the Cape Town night club scene.
A Trailblazing & Tendsetting DJ All Across South Africa
Superfly’s powerful voice on the mic mesmerised the crowds and they went wild for his Boogie Dance moves when he left the DJ booth to enter the circle on the dancefloor.
A genuine trendsetter in the night club world, Superfly’s style, suave on the mic and his penchant for crazy antics still gets imitated by many DJ’s today.
His classic opening theme track with his show announcer style of welcoming patrons to the venue along with his showmanship when hyping up the crowds has become a hallmark of any DJ Superfly event.
Rayyaan Coetzee has non-stop been DJ’ing and entertaining audiences across South Africa for the past 46 years. Having consistently had long-running residencies in Cape Town and Durban and having toured the club scenes of Johannesburg and other major cities and big towns across the country, he was always ahead of the game and should never be mistaken for simply being an “Old School DJ”.

Very Versatile & Still Very Relavent
DJ Superfly has been either a Resident or a Guest DJ entertaining thousands of dancers at some of the hottest clubs that include Casablanca, The New Yorker, Copacabana, Galaxy, West End, Utopia Café, Club Zoom (Durban), Club Oxygen, The Gallery, Atmosphere, Las Vegas, Night Shift, G-Spot Lounge.
Rayyaan does not only spin Jazz-Funk, Soul, Disco and House music.
Since his return from his residency at Club Zoom in Durban he has become very well known on the underground rave & trance scene, he has shared the stage with many top international trance & rave DJ’s who have played at the trendsetting Gallery Night Club in the city.
Having won a number of DJ Competitions over his lifetime Superfly is always evolving along with the hottest sounds of the time, and the entertainment industry continues confirms his relevance. He has in recent years been a feature on many music festival lineups including being a headliner at the Cape Town Electronic Music Festival and the DSTV Mitchells Plain Festival.
Set to return soon from his latest mid-month event in Florida, Johannesburg, DJ Superfly is excited to Celebrate his Birthday and 46 years of deejaying with you on Saturday 24 February at Utopia Café and Lounge in Ottery, Cape Town. He will be joined on the decks by Dessie Dee & myself realROZZANO.
