Freedom Day Community Jam at Parow Park

The Freedom Day Community Jam to be held at Parow Park Community Flats on Saturday 27 April 2024 promises to be an Entertaining, Fun and Educational experience not only for the community of Parow Park but the event is also free for anyone from the surrounding communities to attend.

For the past 5 years |Xam For Our Peoples Foundaton N.P.O. has been hosting Khoikhoi Educatonal Workshops and Media Training around towns in the Western-Cape. The goal is to teach both youth and adults the Indigenous History of South Africa, Music, Dress, Traditonal Values and Culture.

We have witnessed at previous events hosted Bronwyn ‘|Xam’ Andrews who heads up |Xam For Our Peoples Foundaton N.P.O. and the Khoi-San Events & Projects company how she has a knack for communicating important concepts of Khoikhoi identity to young children and adults alike.

This event will focus on various themes around ‘Freedom’, how we got here and what is there stll to do.
There will also be a focus on Better Educatonal Choices, Career Choices, Freedom of Expression and Using Art & Music to Heal Trauma.

The Parow Park Community Flats Housing Project aka ‘Die Duiwe Hokke’ with its multi-cultural mix of residents is ideally suited to teach the resident Youth of Indigenous Khoikhoi Descent about their Culture & Heritage, and to encourage them to focus on their future. It is also an opportunity to teach resident children and adults from other cultural backgrounds about the validity of the Khoikhoi Identity.

Guest speaker Chief Maarman of the Cochoqua Tribe will enlighten the audience on certain cultural matters,

Another keynote speaker at the event DJ realROZZANO of Best of Ekapa Hip Hop NPO will be speaking about Revolutionary Hip Hop Culture as a Positive Lifestyle versus the mainstream weaponised form of rap music classified as hiphop which is detrimental to ourselves and to society.

For the event starting at 10:30am Cyprian Heideman of World Class Media has curated a fantastic lineup of entertainers across a few different genres to keep the Parow Park crowd entertained. Sharing a stage on the day are Benjamen YTTG, Ras Magic, Beyond Ordinary, Rymyster, Clair Note, Justin Merlin, YKD Reese The Rapper and Martin Pretorius while the Compére and Host MC will be Jah Surprise.

DJ’s keeping the music flowing on the day will be the legendary DJ realROZZANO, Ryan Fifth Element & DJ Anthony with Fifth Element Live providing Audio Services for the event.

The Freedom Day Community Jam Event on 27 April 2024 starts at 10:30am until 14:30.
The Community Jam is Free to attend and the local SAPS will have a presence to ensure everyone’s safety.
Parow Park Community Flats is accessible from either Balfor Road off Giel Basson Drive or from Frankfort Street off Voortrekker Road (then turn left towards Balfour).
Attendees are welcome to bring along picnic baskets, picnic blankets and camping chairs.
