After more than two decades of making South Africans laugh until their sides ache, award-winning comedian Stuart Taylor is back on stage this November with his latest one-man show, Odd Man Out. Fresh off an Ovation Award win at the 2024 National Arts Festival in Makhanda, Taylor is set to bring his signature blend of razor-sharp wit and relatable storytelling to Cape Town and Johannesburg audiences.
Fans in Cape Town can catch Odd Man Out at the Baxter Theatre’s Concert Hall from 13 to 15 November 2025, while Johannesburg audiences can enjoy it at Theatre on the Square in Sandton from 17 to 23 November 2025. Tickets range between R180 and R220, and early booking is recommended for what promises to be one of the year’s comedy highlights.
The Comedy of Feeling Out of Place
“Odd Man Out sums up my life perfectly,” says Taylor. “I’ve always been that guy who doesn’t quite fit in, like a vegan at a braai.”
This new show captures that very sentiment, exploring what it means to never quite blend in, to constantly find yourself somewhere between belonging and bewildered. Through stories about awkward teenage years spent perfecting magic tricks, the chaos of raising two teenage sons, and the reality of middle-aged gym culture, Taylor invites audiences to laugh at the beautiful absurdity of life’s in-between moments.

Cue magazine called Odd Man Out “a delightfully uncomfortable mirror held up to the suburban middle-aged experience… both cringe-worthy and comedy gold.”
That’s exactly where Taylor thrives; in that sweet spot between embarrassment and empathy, where shared human awkwardness becomes a room full of laughter.
“This is comedy straight from real life,” he explains. “People think their awkward moments are unique, but we’re all the same kind of weird. I’m just the guy saying it out loud.”

A Career of Craft and Consistency
Few comedians have built a career as dynamic and durable as Stuart Taylor. With over 25 years in entertainment, he has evolved from a young performer in the Cape Town comedy scene to one of South Africa’s most respected comedic voices.
A graduate of Stellenbosch University with a Bachelor of Science degree, Taylor traded the lab for the laughter, following his passion for the creative arts. He co-founded the Cape Comedy Collective in 1999, helping to lay the foundation for South Africa’s modern stand-up scene. By 2003, he had become a household name as the host of SABC’s hit travel show Going Nowhere Slowly, which ran for seven successful seasons.
Since then, Taylor has written, produced, and performed 16 solo shows, earning multiple awards including the Ovation Award, Overall Best Comedy Award, and the Show Time Award for Best Solo Performance. His hit production Learner Husband even inspired a best-selling book of the same name, launched in 2013 to wide acclaim.

Internationally, he has flown the South African comedy flag high at prestigious festivals like the Edinburgh Fringe, Berlin International Comedy Festival, New Zealand International Comedy Festival, and the Montreux Comedy Festival in Switzerland.
In 2005, Stuart Taylor expanded his creative reach by founding Taylor Made Productions, a company specialising in live events and television productions, proving that his talent extends well beyond the stage.
The Learner Husband Podcast: Life, Love, and Laughter
Never one to sit still creatively, Stuart Taylor has also ventured into the digital space with his new hit project, The Learner Husband Podcast. In it, he and his guests who range from comedians to creators and everyday characters unpack the chaos of modern relationships with humour and honesty.
The podcast is not only an evolution of his Learner Husband show, and the book of the same name, but it is also a natural extension of the themes explored in Odd Man Out. Together the two concepts create a basis from which Stuart Taylor and his guests explore the joys, challenges, and hilarious misunderstandings that come with trying to “figure life out” as a husband, father, and human being.

The Legacy Continues
From his early days as a magic-obsessed misfit to becoming one of South Africa’s most celebrated comedians, Stuart Taylor continues to prove why he’s in a league of his own. Odd Man Out isn’t just a comedy show; it’s a celebration of imperfection, laughter, and the human experience.
With sold-out performances, rave reviews, and a career that seamlessly blends intellect with humour, Taylor stands tall as a master storyteller who turns ordinary life into extraordinary comedy.
So whether you’re a lifelong fan or a newcomer to his work, prepare for a night of big laughs, real moments, and that unmistakable Stuart Taylor charm.
Odd Man Out is the perfect remedy for anyone who’s ever felt like the “odd one out”.
