Sound, Soul & Spirit – A Night with Zaki Ibrahim & Sabrina Chyld

Sound, Soul & Spirit come alive with intimate performances by Zaki Ibrahim and Sabrina Chyld at The Athletic Club & Social, along with DJ realRozzano & Neil Gain on Saturday 17 January 2025.

Cape Town’s nightlife calendar is dotted with memorable evenings, but some gatherings arrive with a sense of occasion that immediately sets them apart. Sound, Soul & Spirit, taking place at The Athletic Club and Social, promises exactly that. A carefully curated one-night experience bringing together two powerful vocalists and two deeply respected DJs, all within the intimate confines of the Trophy Room.

The venue itself plays a central role in the appeal. Known for its warmth and close quarters, the Trophy Room creates the kind of environment where music is not simply heard, but felt. With limited space available, the evening is intentionally designed to be immersive rather than expansive, placing audience and artist in rare proximity.

Zaki Ibrahim and Sabrina Chyld Bring The Sound, Soul & Spirit

Headlining the live performances on Saturday, 17 January 2025, are Zaki Ibrahim and Sabrina Chyld, two vocalists whose careers have been shaped by a commitment to depth, groove and authenticity.

Zaki Ibrahim’s sound moves fluidly between neo soul, R&B, hip hop and house, refusing to be boxed into a single genre. Since the release of her debut album Every Opposite in 2012, the South African-Canadian singer  has built a reputation as an artist equally comfortable on major international festival stages and in underground club settings. Beyond her recorded work, Zaki Ibrahim is widely respected for her ability to translate emotional nuance into live performance, often reshaping songs in the moment to suit the energy of the room.

Sabrina Chyld brings with her the weight of UK house music history. Often referred to as royalty within the scene, her voice has become synonymous with soulful, spiritually grounded dance music. Having recorded with influential figures such as Phil Asher, Ron Trent and Abel, and performed alongside Kerri Chandler and Masters at Work, Sabrina’s career reflects decades of dedication to the craft. Her performances are less about spectacle and more about connection, a quality that aligns perfectly with the ethos of the night.
