This Women’s Month, get ready for belly laughs, bold satire, and a brand-new character as Wayne McKay returns to Artscape with his hit comedy show AfriSnaaks. Running from 20–23 August 2025 at the Artscape Innovation Lounge, the show promises a sharp, hilarious dive into the Afrikaans language in all its colourful forms — from Afrikaaps to formal, heartfelt to absurd.
Building on the success of the show’s first run at Artscape in February 2024, Wayne McKay brings back Afrisnaaks with even more stories, more satire, and more surprises for audiences eager to celebrate Women’s Month with laughter and cultural flavour.
Comedy Rooted in Local Flavour
Presented by Vulture Productions in association with Wayne McKay, AfriSnaaks is more than just a comedy show — it’s a witty and unfiltered look at language, identity, and community. McKay’s unique style blends stand-up with character-driven storytelling, exploring the soul of the Cape Flats while reflecting the broader quirks and contradictions of South African life.
This season’s twist comes in the form of Wymoenah Khan, a no-nonsense, streetwise, and sass-filled new character who delivers her unapologetic take on love, life, and survival in modern-day Mzansi. Wymoenah is the kind of auntie every audience member will recognise — bold, loud, and always ready with a cutting punchline.

Meet Wymoenah, Bold and Hilarious
“Audiences can expect to laugh, relate, and maybe even rethink how they see language, identity, and community,” says McKay. “Wymoenah Khan adds a whole new flavour to AfriSnaaks — she’s fierce, she’s funny, and she’s full of surprises.”
Directed by award-winning theatre-maker Jeremeo Le Cordeur, AfriSnaaks celebrates the richness of Afrikaans and the people who speak it. By using humour to bridge divides, the show is as thought-provoking as it is entertaining.
