In South Africa the Xenophobe and the Tribalist Are the Same

Xenophobia and Tribalism are Related because that same instinct that is constantly assessing who is foreign and who is native to South Africa is also at play when assessing people from his immediate surroundings.

In South Africa, the xenophobe and the tribalist are the same, because that same instinct that is constantly assessing who is foreign and who is native to South Africa is also at play when assessing people from his immediate surroundings.

People like Ike Khumalo are hateful and contemptious towards people from the South African hinterlands as much as they are of Zimbawbeans, Malawians , Nigerians etc.

The Hatred of ‘Foreigners’ from Within

The hatred of foreign nationals is a reflection of the hatred of ‘foreigners’ from within; that is why European and Chinese foreigners undergo no scruitiny because they do not resemble native South Africans . Ike Khumalo has even made videos calling people from former homelands or Bantustans and accused them of reaping the benefits of democracy and even of taking over the ANC despite, according to him, not suffering from Apartheid.

These guys are Gauteng supremacists who consider people from outside of Johannesburg and other major South African Black urban sprawls like Soweto and Cape flats as ”binnerplaas”, or ”bhari”, ”moegoe” etc.

That is why when xenophic violence breaks out, many of those who suffer the most in the hands of these mobs are South Africans, more especially Tsonga and Venda people and other South Africans whose natural abode is considered to be rural areas.
