Flipping the script and combining their two awesome party concepts they both have running in Joburg, The Afro Ninja aka DJ Uncle Cal and renowned Jozi DJ Kaydee Kool brings you the From Joburg With Love on Saturday 21 December at Hanover Street nightclub in Cape Town’s GrandWest Casino.
The new party concept from this duo of renowned event hosts is a combined spinoff following the success of Uncle Cal’s Cape Town Jazz Party via Joburg events which has already had three highly acclaimed iterations, with the last one held in Johannesburg in September 2024 and Kaydee Kool’s MUTHA events also in Jozi, last held in November 2023.
From Joburg With Love on 21 December 2024 creates the opportunity for the many Jozi Migrants who live in the Cape as well as Capetonians who want to experience an Authentic Jozi Groove to do so alongside the many December holiday visitors from Johannesburg who flock to Cape Town every year.
Uncle Cal & Kaydee Kool will be introducing an awesome lineup of DJ’s from the Johannesburg party scene along with DJ’s from Cape Town to entertain the From Joburg With Love crowd at the Hanover Street Nightclub situated in the GrandWest Casino Complex.
Kaydee Kool The Jozi Club Scene Legend
DJ Kaydee Kool, originally a Joburg resident, has been living in Cape Town since 2022 and says the phenomenon of so many Joburg residents visiting Cape Town during December holidays, along with the Jozi migrants like himself who have moved to Cape Town, presents the perfect opportunity for an event that has Joburgers and Capetonians experiencing each other’s vibe.
DJ Kaydee Kool started his DJ career at FUNK in Rosettenville and since the year 2000 owned a number of prominent night clubs in and around Johannesburg which had mostly Coloured and Indian patrons.
The DJ and Club Owner has gone into semi-retirement after moving to Cape Town and only occasionally sets up and hosts events, like MUTHA held in November 2023 and also from time to time gets booked to DJ at large festivals. His expertise and reputation in the Joburg club scene is a great indication that attendees of From Joburg With Love will have an awesome experience.
Uncle Cal The World Class Event Creator
The Afro Ninja aka Uncle Cal, with his Kung Fu Outfit, Curly Afro Hair and Disco Era Sunglasses, has over many years built up a large following across the country, and indeed the subcontinent and across the globe. Known as a Custodian of The Old School, Uncle Cal also has the versatility to play a range of other genres including House, Kwaito & RnB.
The Cape Town based DJ is also well-known for The Uncle Cal Xperience Radio Show syndicated to various online platforms internationally along with a number of FM radio stations including the Eldorado Park based Eldos FM which has a huge listenership in Joburg.
The huge success of the past three Cape Town Jazz Party via Joburg events held at The View, Kibler Park are not only a testament to Uncle Cal’s prowess as a legendary DJ, but it also speaks volumes of his skills as an event organiser.
The creator of world class events such as the Jazz On The Lawn and the Matroosfontein Jazz Reunion festivals, Uncle Cal has over decades built up a reputation of creating events that showcases some of the best local and international talent. Uncle Cal has also recently returned from a triumphant tour to New Zealand where he headlined a huge South African party in Auckland.
