Leave Nobody Behind Toy Drive – Kids Need Your Preloved Toys

Ivan Willis, the DJ and Social Media personality known to many as IV Beats wants all of us to help him spread some love this Christmas with the Leave Nobody Behind Toy Drive that he has initiated.

We spoke to IV Beats about his Toy Drive as soon as we caught wind of his initiative and we love his idea of giving a good condition pre-loved toy a new home and thereby hopefully giving a child in need a new lease on life.

As adults we seldom think about the far-reaching importance a toy can have in a child’s life.
IV Beats wants to remind us of a toy’s value beyond the joy and pleasure it is for a child to receive a gift.

“Being a Creative myself, I love that Toys allow children to stimulate their creativity, build self confidence and allow them to enter their own worlds and dream. Its the starting point for stimulating the future visionary in a child. I love how toys offer children entrance into a dream world that they can escape to when they need to and how we all form emotional attachments to our favorite toys. It is definitely one of those items that we form sentimental attachment to.”
“The idea of Play Therapy when dealing with traumatised children is of course also proof of the importance of toys.”

First to benefit from the Toy Drive will be a Children’s Home in Sarepta, Kuils River.
Should the Toy Drive gain momentum and the number of toys collected hopefully exceeds the needs of Sarepta Children’s Home, IV Beats already has a plan in place to extend the courtesey to other non-governnmental child care institutions that bona fide social workers will asist him in identifying.

IV Beats is specifically making an appeal for Used Well-Cared-For Toys and not brand new toys.
“We are encouraging people to sort through their existing toy boxes and to offer good condition used toys that thier kids no longer use to children less fortuanate than thier own.”
“We need toys that will in all likelihood be shared be a group of kids that still have some usefull lifespan, therefore if the toys are in good condition the children will be able to enjoy them for that much longer.”

“I am overwhelmed by the response thus far with someone even offering to send a box of toys from as far as Gqeberha aka Port Elizabeth.”
“Many people have started reaching out on the first day offering to buy brand new toys.”
“This is an amazing gesture, but we would like to encourage everyone to try and recycle first by allowing specifically unused toys to not end up in the bin and dumped in our landfills. We are asking that we all consider the environment and recycle by giving unused toys an opportunity to bring joy to more children before we purchase more toys.”

“A referral to a friend or family member who may have unused toys would also be very, very welcome as a form of assistance.”
